Middle of the Year Resolutions
hellomynameisleah had this idea, and it’s a great one. She posted her resolutions, and here’s mine:
I will always, ALWAYS look at the material before a lecture. Twice. And take notes.
I will learn to make the most of my time, whether it’s work, studies, or friendship.
I will keep my finances in order.
I will keep on reading stuff that doesn’t have anything to do with my...

LeechBlock: Responsible so I don't have to be →
It’s a Firefox extension that can block sites during certain times of the day or after a certain amount of time. I’m only allotting myself 8 minutes of goof-off time per hour.
I love this evocative passage from BLDGBLOG. A bit long for a quote.
The Milky Way is made up of thousands of “substructures such as streams.” These “streams” are really clumps of stars – moving at a shared velocity, in a shared direction – that were “ripped” from other galaxies, “most likely small galaxies that were pulled in to create the Milky...

I can’t stop laughing at this
This is one of the best ridiculous-uses-of-the-internet that I’ve seen in a while
Switched over to the Juvenilia theme by Nico Tobares. It looks great and more importantly, has bigger pictures than my old theme. Yay!
The Associated Press is awful →
Olbermann just smashed this article live on MSNBC, and I’d agree. It’s factually incorrect at many points, and substantively false. Calling it “analysis” isn’t an excuse to start making up nonsense, especially when you’re syndicated in newspapers nationwide. Charles Babington, please stop.

I’m giggling at imagining this scroll by on his teleprompter.
Whoa, the podium they installed at Mile-High Stadium for the Obamathon can rise or sink into the ground as necessary for the various events today.
On the Power of "Noticing" →
Picking out signal from noise is hard, but so rewarding.
For all those following along on MSNBC broadcasts these last few days, the “9/11 was an inside job” megaphone blaring behind the analysts is Alex Jones. Way to ruin hours upon hours of TV, asshole. >: (
Checking your cell phone is the new yawning.

Find out how much you’ll get back, and how much more it is than McCain’s tax cuts.
Sure, Clinton said Obama’s name several times. But this was an obligatory,...

But that’s why you should vote for candidates. Not because you like them, but because you agree with the things they want to do for the country. We’re not in high school anymore. This isn’t some student body president popularity contest. This is the...
Sioux City Journal: Olive Garden arrives →
I can’t help but giggle at articles like this. They’re just so genuinely happy, and in a way that doesn’t care what everyone else thinks about it. :D
Aaron Sorkin writing new movie on... Facebook? →
Bizarre, but confirmed.
Michael Phelps Makes a Restaurant (w/ sound) →
I really shouldn’t be laughing this hard at this.
If he’s the answer, then the question must be ridiculous.

We had a rape in one of the residence halls on the second night after we opened to the public. I found out about it in today’s campus newspaper. It’s just frustrating and depressing and all kinds of sad.

An incredible piece of oratory that will be hard to top these next few days.
