i’m devouring everything raymond carver has ever written right now, so many thanks to paul for sending this article my way :) it’s an older article but a great read.
This is great not just for the insight into Raymond Carver’s writing, but also the entire idea of a solitary author of texts. Even though a singular voice can seem to come from a piece of writing, it may be the result of two or more people’s efforts.
Also of note: this is written by D.T. Max, who wrote the definitive postmortem of David Foster Wallace for The New Yorker.
